rest. work. rest.
Rhythms of Grace
matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)

"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion?
Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life.
I'll show you how to take a real rest.
Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."

beat #45 - jasmine [proverbs, day 18] (Monday, May 20, 2013 / 11:27 AM)

v. 10-11
"The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it an unscalable wall."

On the matter of security there is only one guarantee and that is Christ.
We are to put our trust in nothing else.

The problem of security here is so manifest that it is almost completely unrecognizable.
People in all walks of life, at all ages, from all places all look for security, something to say is a rule for all that will never have exceptions.

We hear love, we hear power, we hear justice, we hear mercy, we hear purpose, we hear self-importance, we hear art, we hear money, we hear selflessness and the list goes on and on and on...

The truth is we all just need to hear Jesus.

He is the one uncompromisable thing that I possess, and everything else is shadows in the light of this one.

But these are all just words and the truth is much harder to realize, because I am constantly building myself a fortified city, or building myself into a fortified city for fear of attack.

How do I learn to put all my security in the Lord?

That is a lesson that will probably take every single day of my life to learn and even then, I will not be quite there, but isn't that the beauty of it all?

Before I've learned the lesson he has already given me my final score and it is a perfect one, untainted, not because I aced anything but because the love of Christ has deemed me worthy.

Before he healed me I was touched, and it was beautiful.
